The Motorcycle Kid and the Coyote ( a modern fable story of Mr. Dongguo and the Wolf)

March 17, 2012
Right after lunch, a young kid zoomed down the dirt trail of a forest on his motorcycle. On his back, there was a small backpack filled with energy bars and drinks. He was training for a worldwide motorcycle race. With his gleaming helmet, and headphones, he looked very stylish in the forest.
Suddenly, a frantic coyote jumped out of a bush right in front of him. This caused the motorist to brake his bike abruptly. He slid the visor of his helmet, and looked at the coyote with suspicion. The coyote said,  panting heavily,”Sir, I beg you, please help me. A hunter is after my beautiful fur. Just let me hide in your backpack. If you save me, I will never forget your kindness.”
The young teen looked at the coyote with hesitation, and felt pity for it. He said, "Okay, I will help you.” He dumped all the energy bars and drinks out and tried to stuff the coyote in. But the pack was not very big, plus the coyote’s body was pretty fat, so no matter how hard he tried to push the coyote in, it wouldn’t fit.
The sound of a horse galloping could be heard now. The coyote said frantically, “Please hurry, the hunter is coming!” Then the coyote curled itself as small as a hairy ball. The kid used some extra climbing rope from his backpack and tied the coyote’s legs together. Now he could put the coyote easily into his backpack. He shouldered it, and then started the engine.
Right after that, a fierce looking hunter with a shotgun in his hand caught up with the young kid. He couldn’t find any traces of the coyote, so he asked the kid, “Excuse me, did you see a coyote running down this path?”
“No,” said the young teen, who knew this forest very well, “I didn’t see a coyote. There are lots of side paths on this trail, so it might have gone in one of them.”
The hunter went away, hoping to find the coyote. In the backpack said a muffled voice, “You can let me out now.” The young kid unzipped the pack and untied the coyote. It stretched its body, licked its lips hungrily and said in a wicked tone, "Sir, right now I am really hungry, and if I can’t find food I’m going to starve and eventually die. Since you saved my life, do me one more favor. Let me eat you!” Immediately, it pounced for the scared teen with its fangs bared.
The young kid was shocked. He didn’t have time to jump on the motorcycle and escape, so he leaped for the other side of the bike. The coyote chased the teen in circles around the bike. The teen was yelling, “YOU VILLAIN! YOU VILLAIN!” at the coyote.
At that moment, a ranger drove by in his sporty Jeep. The teen ran to him for help. He told the ranger the whole story and asked, “Do I deserve to be eaten by that coyote?”
But the coyote told the ranger a different story. He said, “That kid tied me up into a ball, stuffed me in a small bag and squashed me with lots of weird smelling stuff. He is trying to kill me!”
The ranger thought for a while, and said, “I don’t believe that. You are too big to fit into this teens’ backpack. Please show me how it is possible.”
So both of them did what they had done before. But right after the coyote was packed, the ranger told the young teen, “Never take pity on or trust a wild coyote.” He took out a Taser gun from his belt and shot the coyote.

The End
