Dear Fourth Grader,
Hello, fourth grader, my name is Justin Wei and I am in fifth grade right now. I am here to talk to you about Astrocamp, which I am sure you are very excited to go to. There are many fun activities waiting for you to do. You will learn a lot of interesting things in science. Here is some advice for you when you go next March.
When you get there, you need to be very lucky to have a funny and good instructor. The best is PJ, although Bob and Millie are pretty funny, too. But if you get someone else, don’t be upset. The dorms at Astrocamp are all very comfortable and clean so you don’t have to worry about anything like bugs or disease. You will also get to pick your dorm people. The fifth grade teachers will let you have at least one friend in your dorm.
As you may know, the most popular activity at Astrocamp is the zipline. The hardest part of it is climbing the rope stairs. It is very wobbly and your foot might get stuck. A good way to climb is by stepping on the knots, which are sturdier. But when you are ziplining, it isn’t scary at all. The best way to speed up is, by curling up into a ball. There is also “The Maze,” which is really fun. It’s totally dark, but you can’t get lost. Always check your left, right, up, and down if you think you’ve reached a dead end.
You may also get to build your own bottle rocket. My advice is to make the rocket’s fins gyro-(you’ll learn what it means at Astrocamp), which makes it fly straighter and higher.
There is a class called Atmosphere and Gases. You get three balloons filled with different gases. One of them is flammable and will burst into flames. Don’t be afraid to test your balloon “bravely.” The flammable balloon bursting into flames is very cool and you won’t regret doing it.
This is about all the advice I am going to give you for now. After all, I don’t really want to tell you everything and ruin your trip to Astrocamp for you. Hope you have a great time!
Sincerely,
