Casey’s Long Lost Card

In the city of Denver, Colorado, there lives a good-looking girl named Casey. She has a good temper and always likes to make new friends. She’s open-minded and very jolly. Right now she is in her sixth and final year at Universal Elementary School. Casey and her parents are going move to a new house that will be closer to the junior high and high school that she will attend.
Casey has always wanted to find the postcard that her friend gave to her in 4th grade. On the moving day, she is sorting out her books from her shelf in her bedroom when she finds the card by accident. She had known that the card was somewhere inside the house, but just not where. She is dusting off some of the really old picture books that she has had since Kindergarten. The postcard glides down next to her from a baby book called Zoo. This is the card that she has been trying to find. It reminds her of a very close friend who moved to another state.
Emily had been Casey’s friend since they were in preschool. At recess, they could always be found with each other. As they both grew up together, they learned that they had many similar interest, such as singing, picking flowers, and making bracelets. But when they were in fourth grade, Emily had to leave because her dad found a better job  in another state. Right before she left, she gave Casey a postcard. These were her words on  the postcard, “Even though we are separated, our friendship is not.” The letters were written in red, which was her favorite color. It also had a colorful drawing of Casey and Emily standing together in a flower bed.  Stuck on the card was also a bookmark made of dried leaves and roses that they had always made when they were little. The scent of rose petals was very good, and Casey could smell it even now. The card was very important to her and she valued it a lot.
This postcard from Emily reminds Casey to write a letter to her, call her or maybe even Skype with her. They have a fun time chatting, and getting to know how the other is doing.
