My Visit to The Grocery Store

Last Saturday, I went to the Chinese grocery store called 99 Ranch Market with my mom. We were short on vegetables, seafood and some     special traditional cooking sauces.
When we arrived at the store, the place looked quiet and orderly. Mom went to get some asparagus the moment she saw them on sale in the flyer. I immediately smelled the familiar scent of seafood and poultry. I directly headed for the seafood aisle to watch the fish being cleaned, chopped, and fried. I was happy to see whole salmon on sale. Salmon is one of my favorite fish. Mom checked the salmon’s gills to see if it was fresh. After she picked one, the worker started to clean it and was ready to chop it into pieces. I heard the rushing water and the sound of knife striking fish. But suddenly, our fish made a humongous leap and struck the worker squarely in the face. He furiously pounded the fish more to make sure it wouldn’t jump again. I laughed and said that mom picked a good and strong fish. I made mom promise to cook it well.  After awhile my nose pick up an aroma of noodles. I arrived just in time to get the last serving of the sample. It tasted very spicy and savory. Then I went to help mom pick some corn from the big pile. The corn silk was very tickly and I giggled a lot. While picking the corn, I heard a Shanghai couple nearby arguing non stop and I got very annoyed and stalked off sulkily. After that, I went to pick out a watermelon for my mom. The watermelons were better to feel because of the smooth surface. I tried many more samples, such as Chinese sausages, and dumplings, and felt full. Our cart was piled high with groceries. We could barely fit the lot into the trunk. It is always enjoyable to visit the grocery stores.
