A Letter to Dogs

Dear dogs in my neighborhood,

Hello, dogs. I don’t know what your names are,  but I am sure two of you live west of me and one to the south. But some of you just pass our house during your walks with your masters. I used to like you a lot, but after awhile, I noticed you dogs were annoying. You bark too much and poop wherever you are. That is why I made up my mind to write this letter. Even as I am writing  now,  I can hear you guys barking and yelping.

I have been noticing that there is barking when I read, when I do homework, when I play, anytime that I am awake, and even at five o’clock  in the morning. The barking always annoys me.  Sometimes I have to suffer the noise for over one hour. Several times I almost  called the police!

I have also been noticing  your poop our lawn when I water the grass. And I almost stepped twice on your poop on the sidewalk   when I was walking to school.  My mom is thinking seriously of putting up a “no dog pooping” sign in the front yard. Even though you don’t know how to read,  your masters do. I am wondering whether I should pick up the poop on my way to school or not. At least the sidewalk would be a little cleaner.

I don’t totally blame you. I understand that barking and pooping wherever you go is your nature. I also know that sometimes you bark because your owners leave for work early in the morning and you feel lonely. Or you’re just guarding the house and barking at strangers who get too close. But your owners really should do something. For example, they should train you not to disturb the neighbors when you are emotional. It is your master’s duty to clean up your poop in public. So it’s not totally your fault,  but I beg you , please be more civilized, for we are not living in a jungle!  I believe that you dogs are also evolving,  just not as fast as humans are.

P.S. Even if you are not leashed in public, please be friendly to everyone and behave, no matter how excited you are!

Sincerely,
Justin W.
